HEC Paris Executive MBA: five locations, six Majors, one world-class degree

The HEC Paris Executive MBA offers participants a choice of eight tracks and six specializations in five locations: Paris, Beijing, Shanghai, St. Petersburg and Doha.
Executive MBA Academic Director and Associate Professor of Marketing Frédéric Dalsace discusses the advantages of this newly revamped program.

What was the catalyst for the change in format?
FD: We reorganized the HEC Executive MBA to ensure that all participants follow the same core curriculum and receive the same fundamental content, regardless of where they decide to enroll. Our goal is to offer participants all the basics of a world-class Executive MBA, but with some unique features.

What sets the HEC Paris Executive MBA apart?
FD: With most Executive MBAs, participants must follow the program in a single location. If you select a program in Hong Kong, you have to complete the entire program there. That might make sense if you have a strong interest in China, but people may want to strengthen their knowledge of the country without doing their whole Executive MBA there. Our program offers participants the unique option of taking modules in France, China, Russia or Qatar.

Why was adding specializations important?
FD: Participants wanted opportunities to specialize, so we created six Majors to meet their needs. We offer: Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Services: Differentiation and Innovation, Global Business Perspectives, Aerospace & Aviation, Management in an Energy-concerned Economy and, last but not least Luxury Management.
Majors are a good way to give them more specialized knowledge of an industry or region in addition to the essential skills such as decision-making, leadership and strategic thinking that the core program provides.

How will participants benefit from this international program?
FD: Our aim is to build a strong participant network across all five locations. If a participant is based in France, but completes a module in China, Russia or Qatar, he or she will be able to build a network of peers around the world. This is an invaluable asset in today’s global business landscape.
