General FAQ

Is this program right for me?
Do not hesitate to discuss your background and objectives with our admissions counselors to identify the most suitable program to meet your objectives.
Where are the programs held?
Choose your program by location.
How is a typical day organized?
The programs generally start at 8.30 or 9.00am and finish at 6.00pm. For long programs, there are also lectures or teamwork sessions in the evening, until 10.00pm.
Are the programs compatible with my work schedule?
Of course, all our programs are designed to take you away from the office for the minimum time necessary.
What is the international dimension of the programs?
The teaching takes into account global business, both in terms of course content and faculty members. Many courses include study trips abroad.
How is admission organized?
You will have to complete an application. Students are admitted to Open-Enrolment classes on the basis application. For Degree courses, the first stage is a review of the application; the second stage comprises one or several interviews, and management tests.
Can I learn more about the programs with a recent program participant?
Of course, discussing with a former student is the best way of getting to know the program better. Attend an information session. See the program pages for upcoming session dates.
How can I know the profile of participants on my program or other programs?
Ask your admissions counselor.
What languages are courses proposed in?
In French and English, or English translated into Mandarin Chinese. Refer to the presentation for the program you are interested in or select the programs of interest to you.

Are there specific materials to be reviewed before the start of the program?
In general, no. In the case of the Executive MBA, as soon as you are admitted, you will have access to on-line self-training modules before the beginning of the program.
Is it important to be currently employed?
No. However, an important part of most programs is the development of real-life strategic or operational recommendations. Current employment or personal commitment to an initiative such as creating or taking over a company is therefore necessary.
Do you offer a job-search service?
No, for ethical reasons. The training course costs are generally covered, at least in part, by participants’ companies with a view to in-house advancement.
Is there a minimum age?
We consider that your experience is of the utmost importance. For Degree and Open-Enrolment programs the teaching is based on exchange of experience and the average age of participants is 38, with experience ranging from 5 to 15 years. Classes are composed of participants with varied profiles (nationalities, training background, sectors of activity …) but similar professional maturity.
How do I choose between the different types of programs offered?
The Executive MBA general management program that is internationally-oriented. Some of the formats are entirely in English. It prepares for general management positions.
The Executive Masters are specialized programs of training in a particular field, with additional generalized management classes, such as finance, marketing, and leadership.
The Open-Enrolment Seminars enable you to train very quickly in a specific aspect of or approach to management.
What is the selection rate?
Our programs are selective. The selection rate varies from one to another. Talk about it with your admissions counselor and ask them for their opinion on your application.
Is the use of a laptop computer indispensable?
You will have wi-fi access. Personal use of a laptop is recommended for group work but is not obligatory, unless specified to the contrary.
What online systems will I have access to?
For all Degree courses, there is an intranet dedicated to your program and placed at your disposal. This intranet provides a forum for exchanges with other participants and also includes teaching resources and, in certain programs, e-learning modules.
Will I receive a certificate or diploma at the end of my program?
Yes.
Are the lifelong learning programs internationally accredited?
Yes. Our HEC Paris programs have threefold accreditation by the AMBA (Association of MBAs), EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System – EFMD) and AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business).
How is HEC ranked?
There are a number of national and international rankings. In the Financial Times ranking, HEC Paris is ranked the top business school in Europe. Specific rankings by the FT for certain programs rank the Trium Global Executive MBA number one in Europe and number two in the world, and HEC Executive Education as the European leader (number 1 in Europe for relevance, degree of innovation and efficiency of inter-company programs, inclusion of new knowledge in programs and for the degree of interaction with the partner company, pedagogical design and value for money).
Do you recommend a particular dress code?
We do not recommend a particular dress code. For evenings or receptions organized on overseas trips, participants generally adopt more formal dress. For certain evening events, casual dress is required.
What does the price of a program represent?
Prices are expressed in Euros in Europe, in Dollars for Trium and in RMB for the Executive MBA China and the Advanced Management Program in Fashion and Luxury. In general, teaching fees are separate from food and travel expenses. Teaching fees cover classes, teaching resources and breaks. The prices are reviewed in September each year.
Do the prices include VAT?
No, but VAT is only applicable to Open-Enrolment Seminars.
Can I get financial support?
Yes, there are four financing possibilities which can be combined with each other: your company, an, OPCA training fund, FONGECIF training fund or personal financing. Mixed financing (e.g. FONGECIF + company + personal financing…) is possible. Note that the Fongecif will finance only teaching fees, subject to a €15,000 limit, and application files take a certain time to be processed. Depending on where you live, a variety of financing possibilities may exist. Ask your admissions counselor.
What facilities will I have access to on the campus?
  • A bookshop selling international management publications and stationery. Open Mondays to Fridays 9:30am to 1:00pm and 2:00 - 6:00pm.
  • A restaurant with buffet meals served at lunchtimes and sit-down meal service in the evenings.
  • A fitness center open every day from 7am - 10:30pm, and an outdoor pool open from June to September from 7:00am - 10:30pm. Facilities reserved for participants residing at the Valbièvre Holiday Inn.
Will I have access to a library to do research?
Yes. Depending where your program is being held, you will benefit from the expertise of our teams to conduct your research in Jouy-en-Josas (HEC Paris library) or in Paris (Executive MBA media library). A wide range of resources are at your disposal, including 52 English-language academic, financial or sector databases.
What are the advantages of being an HEC alumnus?
First, you become a member of the Executive Education alumni community once you have successfully completed a Degree or Graduate Certificate in Management course. You have access to a dedicated website with exclusive information and services.
A training course with the HEC name represents genuine added value on your CV, and is recognized by the corporate world.
You also become a member of the Alumni Association for those who have successfully completed a degree. The advantages of this are many. The 35,000-strong HEC network is worldwide and is among the most influential of its kind.
Transport and Access - How do I get to the Jouy-en-Josas campus and Château Executive Education?
For the Jouy-en-Josas campus, you can come by public transport or by car. The campus is 20km from Orly Airport and 60km from Roissy-Charles-De-Gaulle. The entrance to Château Executive Education is 1km from the entrance to the campus. Our Paris Champerret site is at the Porte de Champerret.
Transport and Access - Can I park my car?
Yes. On the campus or at the Vinci Porte de Champerret car park.
Transport and Access - Is my hotel booking made by HEC or do I have to handle it myself?
For programs taking place on the Jouy-en-Josas campus, accommodation is proposed to you at a preferential rate right next to the training center. Executive Education Château has rooms on site.
